Crypto-currencies, Blockchain, and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) accelerated their adoption during the CoVid-19 Pandemic.  These technological developments are poised to play a larger role in the world and by extension the trust and estate planning space, over the next few years.  Having a basic understanding of the technologies involved, management-related assets, and the overall implications for trust and estate planning will be critical for any professional.  Please join us for an exploration of this cutting-edge topic and how it relates to your practice.

 

Caroline Taylor, AAA, is a consultant and appraiser specialized in NFTs as well as Post-War, Contemporary and Emerging Art. She is a Certified Member of the Appraisers Association of America. In 2021 Caroline founded Appraisal Bureau in order to expand her existing practice, and has since written a proprietary NFT valuation methodology used by Lloyds of London. Previously, Caroline was a curatorial associate for the Deutsche Bank Collection based in New York City. She holds a BFA in Painting and Art History from Pratt Institute, with additional coursework in financial math and statistics at New York University.

Charles Turner is the Managing Director at Malca-Amit UK Ltd. His career to date has focused on providing the luxury trade with bespoke designed products. Areas of expertise include insurance, secure logistics, security and risk management solutions for the Diamonds, Jewellery, Bullion, Fine Art and now the Digital Asset industry. Before joining Malca-Amit Charles was an SVP at Marsh UK, and the Deputy Managing Director in the Fine Art, Jewellery and Specie team.

Mark Titmarsh is head of digital assets at Malca-Amit UK LTD, a renowned secure vault storage and logistics company. He specialises in creating deep cold storage services for digital assets with full liability coverage. Prior to, his career focused on digital assets and blockchain. Mark worked for ten years at Aviva, the UK’s largest insurer. Whilst there he led and managed the probate book of business within legal indemnities.

Bobby Lee is the Founder and CEO of Ballet, the cryptocurrency company behind the innovative REAL Servies hardware wallet. This physical wallet was launched in 2019, as the world’s first-ever non-electronic hardware wallet with multicurrency support, that requires no setup to use. Previously, Mr. Lee was the Co-founder and CEO of BTCC (also known as BTCChina), the first bitcoin exchange to launch in China, in 2011. Mr. Lee currently serves on the board of Bitcoin Foundation, a non-profit organization that fosters the adoption of bitcoin globally.
