The Los Angeles Estate Planning Council Invites you to join us on Wednesday November 18, 2020 for RE: COVID - Real Estate in the Era of COVID-19, an exploration of the real estate world pre, post and during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The LAEPC ZOOM Room opens at 11:30am with our panel starting around 11:55.

As every person around the country grapples with the ramifications of the current situation, the world of real estate experiences significant disruption and dislocation. What kind of changes should fiduciaries expect? What are best practices for handling real estate assets and many other questions will be explored. Our diverse panel of experts led by Rachelle Rosten (Executive Managing Director at Douglas Elliman Real Estate,) Scott A. Kapin (Senior Vice President and the National Specialty Assets Manager with City National Bank), David Weinberger (Executive Vice President - The Seymour Group/KW Commercial) and Joshua Driskell (Managing Partner of Lagerlof, LLP) will explore the myriad of questions we all have.

Scott A. Kapin is a senior vice president and the National Specialty Assets Manager with City National Bank. Based in San Diego, Mr. Kapin leads the teams that manage privately held real estate assets, closely held entities, and oil/gas/mineral rights that are held in client’s trusts and estates.

Prior to joining City National, Mr. Kapin worked for Wells Fargo Bank on the Real Estate Asset Management team. At Wells Fargo, he was a regional team lead responsible for growth and business development efforts as well as overseeing acquisitions and exchanges. Mr. Kapin has 16 years of commercial real estate experience and 12 years of corporate fiduciary experience.

Mr. Kapin earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from University of Mary Washington in Virginia, a master’s degree in physics from San Francisco State University, and an MBA from West Virginia University. He also holds his Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation.

David Weinberger (Executive Vice President - The Seymour Group/KW Commercial) was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley and has resided all over Los Angeles. His real estate practice focuses on assisting the fiduciary community with Multifamily Commercial and Residential Income real estate assets around the Los Angeles area. He is a member of the National Association of Federal Equity Receivers (NAFER), ProVisors, the Professional Fiduciary Association (PFAC), Los Angeles Estate Planning Council (LAEPC) and the California/National Association of Realtors. 

David attained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Cruz and California State University, Northridge. In addition he has completed advanced real estate coursework at the University of California, Los Angeles. Since 2002 he's held his real estate license with additional experience in the mortgage banking field. His unique combination of an analytical mindset, experience and personality offers clients a comprehensive view of their real estate assets. 

Joshua Driskell focuses his practice on estate and trust, corporate, business and taxation matters. He is a member of the Pasadena Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the California Bar Association. Mr. Driskell is admitted to practice law in all California state courts, all Ohio state courts, and the United States District Courts for the Central District of California, Northern District of Ohio and Western District of Michigan. Mr. Driskell earned his juris doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law, where he was president of the American Bar Association-Law School Division and was a member, officer and coach for the University of Toledo’s Moot Court Team and co-coordinated the school’s annual Fornoff Competition where more than 100 students compete for a chance to argue their case before national judges. For his dedication and involvement in the Moot Court program, Joshua was honored with membership in the National Order of the Barristers, a national legal honor society celebrating Moot Court programs. Mr. Driskell serves as the Managing Partner of Lagerlof, LLP, a mid-size law firm focused on complex legal issues for individuals and businesses. Prior to the formation of Primuth & Driskell, LLP (now Lagerlof, LLP) Mr. Driskell worked at Mockensturm Limited, a multi-state law firm, handling a wide variety of estate, tax and business matters for individuals and small and medium sized businesses.
